PIKE COUNTY, Mo. -- People forced out of their homes after a massive pipeline broke in their community are now back home.

The break happened around 6 p.m. Thursday near Highway U in Pike County near Bowling Green, which is about 90 miles northwest of St. Louis.

"It was very scary, the blast. It had an incredible shockwave," said Mike Reynolds, who lives nearby.

Officials estimate at least 50 to 100 homes were evacuated, and all roads in a one-mile radius were closed to traffic.

Several agencies, including the Bowling Green Fire Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Pike County Sheriff's Department were working on scene.

There were no reports of illness or injuries.

A spokesperson for Tallgrass Energy, the company that owns the pipeline, says they are

paying for the repairs to Mike Reynold's home and putting him and his family up in a hotel until he can safely move back into his house. Tallgrass Energy is also working to track down all the families who were evacuated so they can reimburse them for their hotel stays.
