ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — For several hours during the morning rush Monday, a major crash closed a section of US-67 and the Clark Bridge, which connects St. Charles County and Alton, Illinois.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed one person was killed in the crash, which involved at least three vehicles.
MSHP hasn't released a cause for the crash or whether anyone else was injured.
The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. Monday on US-67 between the Clark Bridge and Lindbergh in West Alton.
All southbound lanes and one northbound lane of US-67, along with the southbound lanes of the Clark Bridge going into Missouri were closed for about four hours.
Traffic was backed up for several miles in the area.
The crash reconstruction team responded to the scene to piece together what happened.
