ST. LOUIS — A man was killed Wednesday evening when he was struck by a tractor-trailer along Interstate 44.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded just after 7 p.m. to the crash in the area of eastbound I-44 near Convention Plaza, near where it merges with Interstate 70.
In an update, police said the man had just finished changing a tire on a gray Chevrolet HHR on the right shoulder. A GMC Terrain was parked behind the HHR, and the man was standing outside the GMC when a tractor-trailer struck him and both parked vehicles.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not identified as of Thursday afternoon.
The tractor-trailer pulled over a couple of miles away and was cooperating with the investigation.
