IMPERIAL -- The Rock Community Fire Department says that a fire broke out at the Imperial Metal Polishing Company Friday morning.
Firefighters are still putting out hot spots at the scene on the 1000 block of Main Street. A worker accidentally dropped a torch near some chemical-soaked rags. Employees attempted to extinguish the flames, but the fire spread rapidly.
All employees were able to escape the building without harm.
The building was destroyed, but firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to an adjacent residence only a few feet away.
