Man found fatally shot at scene of South City crash

The man was rushed to a St. Louis hospital, where he died. A homicide investigation has been requested.

ST. LOUIS — A man was found wounded by gunfire in South St. Louis early Saturday morning.

First responders were sent to the scene of a crash with injuries in the 4000 block of California Avenue around 6 am. Saturday, a brief report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

When they arrived, they found the shooting victim in a car involved in the crash, police said. That's when they found out the victim was shot.

Hours later police named the victim. He was David Harmon, 30, of Imperial, Missouri. 

Harmon was found in a car that was crashed into a parked car. He was shot in his left flank. 

He was rushed to a St. Louis hospital, where he died. A homicide investigation has been requested.

No other information was available.

"Anyone with information is urged to call the Homicide Division directly at 314-444-5371," police statement said."Anyone with a tip who wants to remain anonymous and is interested in a reward can contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477)."
