ST. LOUIS — Frontier Airlines is adding round-trip service to a southwestern destination from St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

The Denver-based airline said Tuesday that it will begin serving Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to and from Lambert with four flights each way a week, starting April 10.

Frontier, a subsidiary of Frontier Group Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: ULCC) is offering an introductory one-way fare of $59 for purchase through Thursday for travel on selected weekdays through June 5.

The new flights will give Lambert passengers more options to travel to Phoenix. Both Southwest Airlines and American Airlines currently offer nonstop service to Phoenix from Lambert.

Frontier's new Phoenix flights are part of a nationwide service expansion in 38 cities announced Tuesday, including new flights between Chicago Midway and Baltimore or Houston. The ultra-low-cost carrier also is offering introductory fares starting at $19 for some newly announced routes.
