ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Two elephants at Grant’s Farm have passed away. Toby and Mickey died last week, according to Grant’s Farm.

‘Both were cherished members of our Grant’s Farm family and will truly be missed,’ Grant’s Farm said.

The elephants were closely monitored by our veterinary staff and their deaths do not appear to be related. Toby, a male African elephant, was 38 years old and Mickey, a female African elephant was 34 years old. The median age for a male African elephant is 24, according to Grant's Farm.

‘The quality of care we provide all of the animals at Grant’s Farm is of the utmost importance,’ Grant’s Farm said.

Mickey had been suffering from a brain tumor for the past several years.

‘We are grateful for the people and organizations who have come together to support Grant’s Farm and our elephants, and thank you for all of your support during this difficult time. Share with us your best Mickey & Toby memories, stories or photos,’ Grant’s Farm shared on Facebook.
