TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. — A group dressed in all black appeared at Mason Road on Saturday above Interstate 64 holding flags bearing Swastikas in red and black.
The group had their faces covered with masks and held a large sign that read, "America for the white man." Drivers could read the sign from the interstate.
The Town and Country Police Department said they are aware of and monitoring the situation on Mason Road for the safety of pedestrians and the motoring public.
The department also advised drivers to take extra precautions while driving through that area.
Multiple people who contacted the 5 On Your Side newsroom condemned the hate symbols. A spokesperson for the Anti-Defamation League also denounced the demonstration and noted that anti-Semitism was on the rise in recent years.
The Swastika is a symbol used in religion and culture, but the Third Reich adopted it during World War II, and it became linked with anti-Semitism and white supremacy groups.
The demonstration comes just hours after the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and days away from the one-year anniversary of the terror attack on Israel by Hamas on Oct. 7.
