2 adults rescued, multiple pets killed in High Ridge house fire

Firefighters removed multiple pets from the home, all of which were pronounced dead on the scene.

HIGH RIDGE, Mo. — Two adults were rescued, and three cats and two dogs died in a house fire in the 1800 block of Main Drive in High Ridge on Friday.

High Ridge Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a fire at the house at 8:45 a.m. According to a written statement, when firefighters arrived on the scene five minutes later, they saw the single-story house on fire and a man climbing out of a window in the front of the house with the assistance of deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters found an unconscious woman in a bedroom and rescued her from the home.

Both victims were taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. As of Monday morning, Sept. 23, their conditions were unknown.
