Man drowns Sunday while fishing in Meramec River

The man's body was recovered Tuesday about 200 yards upstream from the Route 66 Boat Ramp.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A Jefferson County man drowned Sunday after falling into the Meramec River while fishing.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 64-year-old Rickie Nolte of High Ridge was fishing Sunday at the Allenton Boat Ramp when he fell into the water. He was last seen floating on his back about 100 yards downstream from the ramp before going under the water's surface.

Nolte's body was found floating face-up near the right river bank Tuesday, about 200 yards upstream from the Route 66 Boat Ramp, according to MSHP.

The Eureka, Metro West and Fenton fire protection districts assisted MSHP with the recovery.
