EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- It's more than 150 years old, and still going strong. The historic Hadley House sits on St. Louis Street in Edwardsville.
"One of the unique features of Hadley House is that in the main building all of the rooms have a fireplace," described superintendent Dr. Lynda Andre.
Built sometime in the 1860s, it was donated to the Edwardsville School District in the 1950s.
Dr. Andre says the house was initially used as a school building with classes.
But for years now, it has served as the administration building and houses about 45 central office workers.
"It's a wonderful facility-- the floors and windows are original," she said. "Everyone in town knows what Hadley House is, so it's an interesting facility but it's also very historic in terms that it's withstood a lot of different activities and a lot of different functions and we're really proud to have it."
