WENTZVILLE, Mo. — An investigation is underway after a student brought a gun to a high school in Wentzville Thursday morning.

A spokesperson said a student at Holt High School alerted a staff member that another student may have a weapon at school. Administrations and law enforcement found the student and took the weapon. The student and weapon are in police custody, a spokesperson said.

‘The instructional day is continuing, and we want to stress that we have nothing to indicate there is any remaining threat to the school. We are working closely with law enforcement and we are confident that this unfortunate situation has been contained,’ Holt High School said on Facebook. ‘Weapons of any kind are not permitted on school property and we take these matters very seriously. We want to assure you that safety is always our number one concern and we are grateful to the student who notified staff: they did exactly what we ask of students - if you see something or hear something, say something. We are also grateful to our Holt administrators and the Wentzville Police Department for the quick and safe resolution.’
