ST. LOUIS -- For the second time in less than two weeks, a horse-drawn carriage has been involved in an accident near downtown.

It happened around 11 o'clock Wednesday night on 7th Street and Lebanon Drive, a few blocks south of Busch Stadium. According to the carriage driver, Koryn Peters, the carriage had six passengers and was stopped at a traffic light when it was hit from behind by a vehicle. Peters said the light had just turned green and before she could get the horse to move, they were hit.

Peters said she was thrown from the carriage and landed on the sidewalk. She was taken to the hospital and released early Thursday morning. She said she had a bruised tailbone and other bumps and bruises.  The crash caused the carriage to tip over. Peters said her passengers were piled on top of each other but were not seriously hurt. She said the horse is OK.

So far, police are not releasing any details about the accident, including whether any tickets have been issued.

The Taxicab Commission has released the following statement:

"The MTC is still reviewing the facts of the incident, and is awaiting the police report. Director Klein will make a decision on any next steps, including an investigation, after that is completed. Obviously, two  accidents in a short time has his attention."

On August 7th, a carriage driver was badly injured when a van hit her carriage on North Broadway in downtown St. Louis. The van left the scene but police arrested the driver a few blocks away.
