Man dead after crash on South Lindbergh

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

MEHLVILLE, Mo. — A Saturday morning crash in Mehlville prompted a St. Louis area nurse to pull over and help. She spoke to the victim and tried to help him breathe, she tells KSDK.

The 6:30 a.m. crash left the vehicle on its side, and several other good Samaritans tried to flip it back upright, the nurse said.

Mehlville Fire Department responded to the single-car crash, said Assistant Chief Dan LaFata. First responders cut the vehicle to rescue the man. Affton Southwest precinct also responded to the scene.

Despite first responders' best efforts, the victim died after he was taken to a hospital, a St. Louis County Police spokesperson said.

Kathy Morard, the nurse, said she saw the vehicle hit the stop light and flip over around 6:30 a.m.

"I was holding his hand," Morard said when she later learned the crash became fatal.

No injuries were disclosed.
