GRANITE CITY, Ill. — Two people were charged after the death of an infant boy at a Granite City hospital in June.
Charges were issued against Sarrah M. Cheung and Patrick L. Godfrey Thursday in connection with the infant's death at Gateway Regional Medical Center in June.
Police were called to Gateway Regional Medical Center because the infant was not conscious and not breathing. Police said it was found that Cheung's and Godrey's actions led to the infant's death.
Cheung and Godrey were charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of endangering the life or health of a child.
Cheung and Godrey were not in custody Friday, police said.
The nature of the infant's death was not released. Cheung and Godrey's relationship with the infant boy was not released, but the charge for involuntary manslaughter said the victim was a "family or household member."
