MACON COUNTY, Ill. — A wild cat native to Africa is on the loose near Decatur, Illinois.
According to the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center, a serval is on the loose near the northeast side of Decatur.
The Macon County Animal Control said they are working with an exotic animal rescue to capture the serval, according to a Facebook post.
The post did not specify where the serval cat came from or how it got loose.
They are asking the public not to interact with the wild cat if found. They don't believe the animal will attack people, but "it could be dangerous in the right circumstances," the post said.
The Macon County Animal Control asks you to call (217) 425-4508 Ext. 4 to report any sightings of the serval.
