MOUNT VERNON, Ill. — Hours after authorities in Jefferson County, Illinois, asked the public for help finding a truck and a woman who was seen trying to escape from it on Thursday, they said in an update that the people involved had been located and there was no evidence of criminal activity.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in an update posted on Facebook that the truck and its occupants were found in another jurisdiction outside of the county. The woman was "OK and no evidence of criminal activity was reported."

The office received a report earlier in the day of a barely-dressed woman trying to get out of the front passenger door of a brown Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck sped by the Jefferson County Justice Center in Mt. Vernon when it was captured by a security camera.

A woman appeared to be unable to get out of the truck, leading authorities to ask for the public's help to locate her and check her well-being.

The sheriff's office thanked the public for helping to locate the people involved.
