A police officer shot in the line of duty last year was honored with a Medal of Merit this weekend.
St. Louis Police Sergeant Tom Lake was one of 18 people recognized by the governor at Missouri Public Safety Officers' Recognition Day this weekend.
Lake survived being shot in the face while sitting in his department vehicle last year.
Three other local first responders were also honored by the governor this weekend.
Lake is still recovering from the shooting. He served on the police force for 20 years.
