Deadly crash on I-270 near Hanley Road causes lane and exit closures

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver was the only person inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A driver was killed in a single-car crash Friday morning on Interstate 270 in north St. Louis County.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the crash happened at about 5 a.m. Friday on westbound I-270 near Hanley Road. The vehicle struck the guardrail and flipped onto a grassy area between the interstate and the exit ramp.

According to MSHP, the driver was the only person inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

Two right lanes of the highway and the exit from westbound I-270 to Dunn Road were closed while police investigated and crews cleaned up the crash scene, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. The MoDOT traveler map estimated the closures to continue until about noon.
