Jefferson County dent repair shop booked and busy after huge hail falls

Areas like Hillsboro, Festus and Olympian Village saw two rounds of severe storms Wednesday. Now, a repair shop is seeing a ton of business.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. — A day later, people in Jefferson County are still cleaning up from Wednesday's storms.

Areas like Hillsboro, Festus and Olympian Village saw two rounds of severe storms Wednesday with huge and damaging hail.

"In Hillsboro, it seemed like the dents were softball, baseball size, but in the Herculaneum area, it seemed like that stuff was softball, grapefruit size, it was going through windows. It looks like bullet holes in the back of people's cars almost it hit so hard," said Alex Langley, the manager at Dents R Us.

Now, business is booking out at Dents R Us in Fenton.

Owner Larry Langley has had to turn people away because of the extensive dents.

"I'm thinking this storm is going to last us until at least October. We're already booking out probably until July, and we just started," said Larry.

Larry's son Alex Langley said, A lot of people just don't know what to do. They don't know if it's worthy of them turning it into their insurance company with them having a higher deductible."

Hillsboro resident Joey Melton brought his brand-new truck to Dents R Us after hail pelted it, causing considerable damage.

"It made my heart sink when I saw it. I was not excited. It started out marble-sized.  By the time I made it inside, it was golfball-sized. By the time my wife made it to the window, it was the size of a baseball, and she ran outside and grabbed it," Melton said.

The Hillsboro Police Department posted on Facebook, warning about scammers popping up and reminding people to do research before using a repair service.

"When storms like this happen, a lot of towners, they'll come into gas stations, and they'll pitch tents and offer free deductibles and cash back, and all of these little things that kind of entice you to go there. So you do need to watch out," Alex said.

Larry says his shop, other auto body repair shops, and insurance companies are going to be extremely busy these next few months, so give them some patience when it comes to getting your car fixed.

"It's just zero to 100 really quick. We got the hail yesterday, so everybody's just got to be patient," Larry said.
