'Jeopardy!' contestants struggle with St. Louis landmark question

None of the contestants were able to give the correct response.

ST. LOUIS — "Jeopardy!" contestants on a recent episode struggled to give the correct response to a question about an iconic St. Louis landmark.

In the episode that aired on Thursday on 5 On Your Side, contestants David Bederman, James Tyler and Diandra D'Alessio competed in the 2024 Champions Tournament.

In the Final Jeopardy! round, the category was "Landmarks."

The answer: "The distance between its two legs at ground level is 630 feet, making it as wide as it is tall."

Here's how the contestants responded

"What is the Eiffel Tower?" Bederman said.

"What is Christ the Redeemer?" Tyler said.

"What is the Eiffel Tower?" D'Alessio said.

The correct response:

"What is ... the Gateway Arch?"

Construction on the stainless steel monument began in 1963 and was completed in 1965. It is 630 feet in height and exactly 63 stories tall. The "Gateway to the West" is the tallest monument in the United States.

D'Alessio finished as the winner in "Jeopardy!" with a final total of $23,599 and was named a semifinalist in the tournament.
