MADISON COUNTY, Ill. — Three people have been injured after a crash on Saturday morning.
Illinois State Police responded to a two-car crash at Interstate 55 in Madison County, Illinois. It said the crash happened near Collinsville in St. Clair County at mile marker 8 around 10:30 a.m.
Police said a GMC truck driver traveling northbound in the left lane hit another car in the rear and then exited the road. the driver parked in the center median. The other car also exited the roadway over by a wooded area to the right, according to the ISP report.
The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital for injuries along with two other occupants for serious injuries, police said.
ISP reported no additional injuries.
According to IDOT, the southbound lanes of I-55 was closed for hours opening back up around 6 p.m.
This crash is still under investigation.
