'Major' gas leak closes westbound lanes of Big Bend Road in Kirkwood

KIRKWOOD, Mo. — A portion of westbound Big Bend Road was closed Thursday afternoon as officials dealt with a "major" gas leak.
The Kirkwood Police Department said Big Bend was closed westbound between South Fillmore and South Kirkwood Road.
"Spire is on the scene but this will be a massive project," the police department said.
Kirkwood Fire and Rescue said the disruption was identified in the area of Big Bend and Kirkwood Road. There was no danger to residents in the area as of Thursday afternoon, officials said.
