ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Police have captured a man wanted for shooting a St. Louis County police officer early Sunday morning.
Tuesday afternoon, St. Louis police arrested 27-year-old Eric Fowler in south St. Louis. He has been charged with assaulting a police officer and armed criminal action.
Sunday, Police responded to a disturbance call on the 5800 block of Eagle Valley Drive just after midnight Sunday morning. Neighbors called police when they witnessed a black male attempting to enter a house.
When officers arrived, they saw Fowler quickly enter a gray Dodge Charger and immediately start backing out of a parking space.
Officers approached the vehicle attempting to make contact with the suspect. When the vehicle reached the officers, the suspect opened fire striking a St. Louis County police officer on his gun belt. A Velda City officer on scene returned fire.
