Man drives car into two pedestrians outside Barnhart bar & grill

BARNHART, Mo. — Two pedestrians were hurt after they were struck by a car Friday night outside a bar & grill in Barnhart, a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol said early Sunday morning.

The driver, a 30-year-old Crystal City man, was backing out of a parking lot at Kenny's Bar & Grill, at 7045 US-61, when the car struck a pole. It happened around 8:45 p.m.

"[The driver] accelerated forward and struck pedestrians 1 and 2," the MSHP crash report said. [The vehicle] then struck several more poles in the parking lot as well."

The victims, a 29-year-old Festus man and a 48-year-old man from Imperial, were both injured. The Festus man was taken to a hospital for serious injuries. The Imperial man was treated by paramedics at the scene of the crash.

The driver was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were moderate, according to the report.
