Burned body found. St. Louis police are investigating it as a homicide

ST. LOUIS — The burned remains of an unidentified woman were found in north St. Louis Saturday evening, a brief report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said. Detectives with the police department's Homicide Division began investigating the death.

The remains were found around 8:30 p.m. in a parking lot on the 1200 block of Switzer Avenue, which puts the scene in St. Louis's Baden neighborhood. That portion of Switzer Avenue is near Baden Avenue.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found unconscious, not breathing, and she had been set on fire, according to the police report. 

She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged home from the emergency department after being shot.
