ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Bomb & Arson detectives are investigating following an explosion Tuesday evening in south St. Louis.
Police said the explosion happened at about 6 p.m. Tuesday inside an apartment at the Fountains at Carondelet, located in the 7800 block of Germania Avenue. A man was seriously injured and lost part of his arm. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Police said Wednesday it appeared the man may have purchased an illegally manufactured firework, and the firework exploded.
