Man pulled from Mississippi River after car goes off road in East Carondelet, Illinois

EAST CARONDELET, Ill. — A man died after his car went off the road and into the Mississippi River in East Carondelet, Illinois, Wednesday evening.

The St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency said the man was driving near the East Carondelet levee at around 5:30 when his car slid off the road and into the river.

Rescue crews were called, and they were able to pull the man's body from the river near the intersection of South 6th and State Streets. Crews were also able to pull the car from the water.

The East Carondelet Police Department and EMS are investigating.
