MACOUPIN COUNTY, Ill. — A man was struck and killed while trying to catch a goose in the road Friday afternoon.
Just before 5 p.m., police responded to Illinois Route 4 in Sawyerville for a report of a fatal crash.
Police said 44-year-old Brian Cox was attempting to catch a goose along Route 4 when a Ford pickup truck struck him while he was in the road.
Cox was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
