MANCHESTER, Missouri — A woman was taken to an area hospital as a precaution after her home caught fire Thursday afternoon in Manchester, according to firefighters at the scene. A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with a knee injury.

The fire started shortly before 1 p.m. at a home on the 1000 block of Tree Top Trail Drive and grew to two alarms before it was brought under control.

The home was a total loss. The siding of a neighbor's home was also melted from the heat of the flames.

Big Bend Boulevard was shut down from Sulphur Springs to Hanna Road as crews worked to put out the fire, according to the Manchester Police Department. The road was later reopened.
