Thursday night, members of the Maryland Heights community stood up for the city's police chief and deputy chief.
Chief Bill Carson and Deputy Chief Joe Delia were placed on paid leave last week.
At a meeting tonight with city council — citizens demanded answers.
The city didn't give them.
Officials just said it had to do with personnel policy and procedures — something they wouldn't discuss in public.
In a statement, Maryland Heights City Administrator Jim Krischke said:
“There have been a number of rumors regarding a reduction of personnel and the status of compensation in the Police Department, and we want to put an end to those concerns. Our staffing levels are commensurate for protecting a city with our size population plus the 75,000+ people that work at businesses and visit attractions within our city on a daily basis. The safety and well-being of our community remains a top priority of the City.”
