MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — A police officer with the Maryland Heights Police Department has died.
Officer Matthew Schmitz’s passing was announced on Facebook Saturday morning. The department said he died of natural causes.
Schmitz served Maryland Heights for more than 23 years and served in the Navy during Operation Desert Storm.
“Officer Schmitz will be dearly missed and we thank him for his service to our community,” the department wrote.
