MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — A man stopping to get gas in Maryland Heights played the Powerball and won.

The Missouri Lottery said the man, who was not identified in the release, won $50,000.

The man purchased the ticket at 12421 Dorsett Road in Maryland Heights which is Petro Mart, and claimed his prize later at the St. Louis regional office.

Missouri Lottery said the man's ticket had four of the five white-ball numbers in the March 25 drawing.

"I stopped in for gas before the gym, walked in, and put down $20,” the man said. In disbelief, he said, "It still hasn't hit me."

The man said that when he told his wife she was so excited that she could not sleep that night.

His plans for the prize money involve remodeling, according to the Missouri Lottery.

The Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.

Saturday's Powerball jackpot is an estimated $1.23 billion, the fourth largest in the game's history, Missouri Lottery said.
