Five passengers of a MetroLink train were taken to the hospital after the train hit a pick-up truck Monday afternoon.
The crash happened at around 4:30 Monday afternoon near the intersection of Etzel and Skinker near the Delmar Loop. Police said five passengers of the train were taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out for non-life threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for the North County Police Cooperative said the driver of the truck hit another car before veering into the path of the train. The truck driver was thrown from the truck, then ran from the scene.
Near the scene of the crash, police found a stolen gun. The car that the truck hit first also left the scene.
The truck was cleared off the tracks a little before 5 p.m. Service has resumed.
