ARNOLD, Mo. -- Missouri American Water has completely its acquisition of the City of Arnold's sewer system, adding 8,800 customers.

The sale was approved in April following a November 2014 election in which Arnold voters approved a public referendum of the sale.

Over the next four years, Missouri American Water plans to invest approximately $5 million into Arnold's sewage infrastructure.

The first Missouri American bills will be sent to customers in August. The bills will stay at Arnold's current rates and rate structure, based on winter water usage. Residents of Arnold will also receive a new customer information package from Missouri American prior to their first bills' arrival.

Following the transition, the city will continue to bill residents of Arnold for storm water and trash services.
