FULTON COUNTY, GA. -- Parents didn't know they were looking at their grandchild when a newborn baby was found on their porch around 3:30 a.m. Friday morning. The temperatures were at freezing levels.
Police say their 14-year-old daughter had just given birth to the child inside the Leisure Lane home and at some point, put the child on the front porch. When the parents found the child, they called 911 because they didn't know where it came from.
It was later determined that the baby belonged to the child, both were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
Parents told police they didn't even know the girl was pregnant. Law enforcement officers contacted the Department of Family and Children Services.
Neighbor Nicole Gillenwater lives across the street from the family and said she's sympathetic to the situation.
"I just feel bad for her to be in that predicament to feel like she had to leave the baby outside. I would have brought the baby over here. The baby could have just stayed with me," she said.
The investigation into what happened is ongoing but she does not face criminal charges.
