Motorcyclist dies in Thursday morning crash in St. Charles

According to an online crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, James R. Johnson's motorcycle was too fast, striking the curb and throwing Johnson.

ST CHARLES, Mo. — A Hazelwood man died after a motorcycle crash in St. Charles early Thursday morning, a police report said.

James R. Johnson, 41, was riding a 2015 Harley Davidson 1200 T west on Interstate Highway 70 around 2:30 a.m. when he took the off-ramp to Missouri Route 94's northbound lanes.

According to an online crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Johnson's motorcycle was going too fast when he struck the curb and was thrown off the motorcycle.

Emergency medical technicians with the St. Charles County Ambulance District rushed Johnson to SSM St. Joseph Hospital — about two miles from the crash. He died there.

Johnson was wearing a helmet.
