Motorcyclist dies in I-70 crash while lane splitting between SUV, semitruck

The motorcyclist was trying to drive between an SUV and a semi when it crashed into the side of the SUV.

WRIGHT CITY, Mo. — A man from Alberta, Canada, died Tuesday night after crashing his motorcycle into another vehicle while lane splitting on Interstate 70 in Wright City.

According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Kyler Jay was following behind an SUV at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on westbound I-70 just before North Stringtown Road.

When the SUV slowed down in front of him, Jay attempted to lane split between the SUV and a tractor-trailer before his motorcycle crashed into the right side of the SUV, according to MSHP.

EMS pronounced Jay dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.
