The O'Fallon, Missouri, Police Department honored their employee of the month, an officer who went above and beyond the call of duty to stop a domestic assault during a hunting trip.

Officer Cory Burk was on a hunting trip in Pike County when he saw a man punching a woman at the next camp over. He grabbed his police-issued gun and confronted the man.

He provided first aid for the woman, who suffered a broken bone in her face along with several severe cuts.

The man was held at gunpoint for almost 30 minutes until Pike County Deputies arrived to the remote location. Police said the man was intoxicated, extremely agitated and had a violent criminal history.
