ST. LOUIS — School is right around the corner in the St. Louis area, and Operation Food Search is partnering with some local libraries to make sure children have nutritious snacks to keep their brains sharp.
Operation Food Search has teamed up with the public library systems in St. Louis and St. Louis County to provide free after-school meals throughout the school year as part of its AfterSchool ReFuel program. As part of the program, 10 libraries across the city and county will provide “super snacks” for children free of charge starting on Aug. 19.
"These nutritious 'super snacks,' which include a fruit, vegetable, protein, dairy and whole grain, help kids and teens stay focused and active through the afternoon and into the evening," Operation Food Search said.
The description of the program said all the foods are ready to eat and prepared with "kids' reference in mind" with the help of local partners.
