ST. LOUIS — People turned out to Ballpark Village for a close shave Thursday night.
It was a fundraiser for Worldwide Technology/American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, a home away from home for people who come to St. Louis for cancer treatment.
People had their heads or their faces shaved in solidarity with someone they are supporting who has cancer. Those volunteers turn to team members to raise money.
Elizabeth Brown, American Cancer Society senior director for St. Louis, said, “When our adventurous volunteers are asked about their new summer haircut, they have an opportunity to explain how they donated their time, treasure and resources to help the mission to end cancer as we know it.”
Brown said it is important to get screened for cancer. She said early detection saves lives.
