EAST ST. LOUIS, Illinois — The TEGNA Foundation has once again distributed grants to charitable organizations chosen by a committee made up of 5 On Your Side team members.
TEGNA is the parent company of 5 On Your Side.
Tuesday, dozens of children at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation turned out for a special Christmas event. “Today in St. Louis” anchor Rene Knott had the honor of presenting Olympic champion Joyner-Kersee with a check from the TEGNA Foundation. That grant money will be used to support the Winning in Life after-school program, which provides transportation, meals, sports, STEM, agriculture, reading, arts science and more.
Joyner-Kersee, an East St. Louis native, won three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals at four different Olympic Games.
Earlier this month, TEGNA also presented a check to the St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation. That grant money will go towards the St. Andrews Healthy Food Program for low-income seniors.
