ST CHARLES, Mo. — A pedestrian was injured Tuesday night in a hit-and-run on an Interstate 70 off-ramp in St. Charles.
According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, it happened at about 8 p.m. Tuesday on the I-70 westbound ramp to 5th Street. The pedestrian, a 40-year-old from Florissant, had injured himself after jumping off a retaining wall and falling into the roadway.
A car traveling in Lane 3 of the ramp steered to the left to avoid hitting the man, but the passenger side of the vehicle struck him, according to the crash report.
MSHP Cpl. Dallas Thompson said the pedestrian had a lower-body injury as a result of the incident, and he was conscious and alert when taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The vehicle that struck the person did not stay at the scene, Thompson said.
No further details on the circumstances of the crash were immediately available.
