MOSCOW MILLS, Mo. — Officers responded Wednesday morning to a double stabbing in Moscow Mills.
Law enforcement responded at about 9 a.m. to a stabbing and a crash in the parking lot of Daddy Ray's commercial bakery at 1070 Industrial Court, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
It began as a domestic incident between a man and a woman who were related, deputies said. The man stabbed the woman and then a bakery employee who had intervened to protect the woman.
Sheriff Rick Harrell called the bystander a "hero." He and the woman were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Harrell said the male victim was stable and he spoke to the woman's family.
"I spoke to her family and they encouraged by her progress," he added.
The suspect was taken into custody.
The sheriff's office was still investigating what led up to the stabbing and the crash. Harrell couldn't share details on how the two incidents were related.
He also couldn't give any information on the relationship between the woman and suspect or confirm if they worked at the commercial bakery.
Just before 11 a.m., investigators began taking down the tape, and tow trucks were arriving at the scene.
A spokesperson for Daddy Ray's offered no comment at the scene but said all employees at the facility were safe.
This is a breaking news story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
