ST. PETERS – Police wives in St. Peters are raising money for an officer and family in need.

Officer Brian Bresnahan, a non-smoker, was diagnosed for a second time with throat cancer. He’s scheduled for surgery this week that will leave him unable to speak as he recovers.

"He's given a lot to the community. He's given a lot to us,” police wife Joy Bittle said.

That’s why she and the other members of Behind the Badge set up a GoFundMe page and are working on a fundraiser for the family.

"We're a big family, we're a blue family. And we want to take care of each other,” she said.

They’re planning a trivia night Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the O’Fallon Elks Lodge with raffles and a silent auction. Tables at that event will cost $200 each.

In the meantime, anyone who wants to help can donate on the GoFundMe Page here.

Bresnahan has served with St. Peters Police for 15 years, and he’s also a Marine veteran.
