St. Louis County boil order lifted

Crews are working to fix the break right now and hope to have it repaired by Sunday afternoon.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — UPDATE: The boil order has been lifted. Missouri American Water says the water is now safe to drink.

----

Missouri American Water is issuing a precautionary boil advisory for a portion of St. Louis County including Maplewood, Shrewsbury and a portion of Webster Groves.

A water main break and an associated low-pressure event is responsible for the boil advisory. Crews are working to fix the break right now and hope to have it repaired by Sunday afternoon.

  • The advisory affects approximately 5,000 customers, a mix of residential and commercial, as well as multiple schools.

  • Water for these customers will need to be brought to a boil for 3 minutes prior to consumption, until further notice. Tap water is okay for washing, bathing and other non-consumable uses during this period.
