ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — One person has been taken into custody after a dispute at a protest in west St. Louis County. The protest was calling for a ceasefire in Gaza a little more than a month after Hamas attacked Israel.
The St. Louis County Police Department said just before 3 p.m. Thursday, officers with the West County Precinct responded to the 14000 block of Manchester Road regarding protestors in the area. Additional officers were called to the area to help with crowd control.
Department Public Information Officer Adrian Washington said one person was taken into custody for an assault as a result of a dispute between parties who did not know one another. There were no reported injuries.
The protest was held on Manchester Road near Weidman Road, where some Israel supporters gathered in the same area. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators have been taking part in a Global Day of Action, holding protests around the St. Louis area Thursday.
The area was reportedly under control and officers were clearing the area around 5 p.m. Thursday. The protest caused some traffic backups.
