JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. — The remains of a woman who has been missing since April were found Saturday on a De Soto property.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday that the body had been identified as Emily Strite, who was reported missing after having last been seen on April 12 in the De Soto area. Strite had last been seen on foot and was believed to have left the area where she was last seen of her own free will.
A property owner near the 4100 block of Frissell Road contacted police Saturday after finding skeletal remains. Investigators with the Regional Medical Examiner's Office used medical and dental records to identify Strite.
"At this time, Strite’s cause of death is undetermined, and investigators are working to learn how her body ended up where it was found," the sheriff's office said.
