ST CHARLES, Mo. — There's a new flood forecast along the Mississippi River and the water is likely to rise once again.
The Boathouse in St. Charles County was hoping to re-open soon, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Two weeks ago, to even get to the Boathouse, you needed to go by boat. To see the comparison on how it was and is today, check this out:
Now that the flooding has gone down, the owner of Boathouse, Toni Luttrell is picking up the pieces to get her place ready for one of the busiest weekends. On Tuesday, they were power washing the deck and cleaning off debris.
Volunteers also helped out and Luttrell is beyond thankful for them, "That is the biggest thing, being a community, having family, friends to come in and help when you're going through a crisis."
The Boathouse has been closed since May 1st. They should already be in their 8th season, but flooding has put things at a standstill. "It's kind of like not having a paycheck for a month. It's just devastating," Luttrell tells Five On Your Side.
That's why Luttrell is working hard to get her restaurant open for Friday. But if the floodwaters rise again, they are ready for the moment they can open their doors.
If they can't open for Memorial Day weekend, they are pushing for the following weekend.
