ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A woman was fatally struck Thursday afternoon after she crossed a road and fell in front of a car in north St. Louis County.
A spokeswoman with the St. Louis County Police Department said in a press release that shortly after 3:45 p.m., officers from the North County Precinct responded to a call for service in the 9800 block of Green Valley Drive for a vehicle that struck a woman.
Officers found the woman with life-threatening injuries from the accident. She was taken to an area hospital but died of her injuries.
She was identified as Karen Roth, 59, of St. Louis.
A preliminary investigation found that the woman was walking across Green Valley Drive when she fell in front of a vehicle driving southbound and was fatally struck. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Detectives with the department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash.
